Whether buyers are brushing off work boots or flashing suits, the resilient Ram memory 1500 can be outfitted for any occasion. By tradesman tool to elegant rolling office, this iconic Ram pickup has a platter of options to feed everyone. Choose among three cab styles and three bed lengths to pair with a base V-6 making 269 lb-ft of torque, a fuel-efficient diesel that offers four-twenty lb-ft, or a yee-haw-yielding Hemi V-8 great for 410 lb-ft. All reap the benefits of an effortless eight-speed automated and rear- or all-wheel drive. Along with the class-exclusive diesel engine, the 2018 Ram 1500 provides a comfortable ride with its segment-exclusive air suspension system. A responsive Uconnect infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also available.

The Ram 1500 remains mostly unrevised for 2018, although there are not new standard and optional features. There is also a special Harvest Edition and a new top-of-the-line Limited Tungsten Release. The latter includes a high quality leather interior with a faux-suede headliner; its external has distinct features such as a sport hood and a chrome bumper grille emblazoned with the Memory name. The optional 8. 4-inch Uconnect touchscreen gives desirable features including Apple CarPlay and Android Car.

2018 Ram 1500 Specifications

The 2018 Ram 1500 offers what no other significant pickup currently does: a diesel engine. With that said, it’s an expensive upgrade, and even though the gas-powered alternatives are capable, they’re also outdated.

The three available engines in the Ram truck are the base 3. 6-liter V-6that produces 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque, the 5. 7-liter V-8 making 395 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, and the top-tier turbo-diesel 3. 0-liter V-6, which is good for 240 horsepower and four-twenty pound-feet of torque. All of the powerplants pair with a seamless-shifting eight-speed programmed transmission. Rear- or all-wheel drive exists with each engine, but they’re not compatible in every single cab and bed size.

EcoDiesel refers to the most “environmentally friendly” Ram. Since it’s at the top of the lineup, we compare each competitor’s equivalent. The diesel-powered 2018 Ram 1500 woefully underperformed at our test trail. The Hemi V-8, on the other hand, fared much better in our acceleration tests and offers more horsepower than the direct rivals. At the end of the day, choosing between the EcoDiesel and the Hemi will involve driving style, workload, and budget.

2018 Ram model Exterior

Last redesigned in 2009, the Ram 1500’s external styling is aging well despite having been on the road for the better part of a decade. That still blends big-rig bits with subtle lines that incorporate to appear both capable and luxurious.

The new Limited Tungsten, the unique exterior is recognized by a sport hood, a chrome-cladded grille emblazoned with the word Ram, unique badging, and exclusive satin-painted wheels. It also has blacked-out headlights and body-color bumpers, mirrors, door handles, and running boards. The Ram 1500 Sport model adopts a body-color billet grille with a swine-influenced snout.

Don’t expect to stand out in the crowd unless you’re in the stylized Rebelor the glitzy Limited, which are each crew cabs. The color palette is considerable and includes snazzy two-tone combinations; we’re most fond of the Treasure White and Delmonico Red Pearl paints.

Mirrors are important on a vehicle with this size, and the ones on our Laramie Longhorn had lots of range. Those who prefer to tow should consider the upgraded mirrors as part of the Trailer Tow line Mirror and Brake Control Group package; the costs of the packages is determined by the model.

2018 Ram 1500 Interior

The new top-of-the-line Limited Tungsten Release adds premium materials to the interior, with high-class leather on the car seats and other surfaces, a faux-suede headliner, and genuine wood accents. The rugged Rebel trim is now available with a leather interior.

TheĀ “2018 Ram 1500” interior space is smaller than the competition’s. The most spacious crew cabs of the rivals have two to three more inches of legroom in their backside seats, but the Ram’s still doesn’t feel filled. In fact, it’s pretty amazing how much room for activities there exists in all of the fully prolonged pickups, particularly the Ford F-150 and the Toyota Tundra.

The Ram’s in house is practical and features premium materials in their higher trim levels. Our Laramie Longhorn featured attractive leather trimmings and genuine ash wood. Unfortunately, some of the styling seemed tacky–for example, its belt-buckle seat pockets and dash design details that look like they’d be inked around a bicep.

Modern cabins do a great job of insulating passengers from ambient noise, but none can completely eliminate the sharp sound of the wind and the rhyme of tire noise when you’re traveling at freeway speed. To measure the interior sound-pressure level, we use a Br? el & Kjaer Type 2250-L sound meter, which we position in the middle section of the first line of seats at the peak of the driver’s ear. The meter automatically uses 15 seconds of sound in A-weighted decibels (dBA), taken while the test car is cruising at 70 mph.

2018 Ram memory 1500 Prices

Individuals who don’t need all-wheel drive can save $3600 for this 2018 Ram 1500. Midwest winters, however, make it mandatory for us. That setup costs $47, 335, or about $3000 more than a 2018 Toyota Tundra SR5 CrewMax with off-road gear that we spec’d. Regardless of where your loyalties lie, the two are aging pick-ups that need an overhaul to better compete with the existing GM and Kia trucks.
