The Sierra HD’s Hollywood style and hard-working heritage make for a supremely ready pickup. The heavy-duty GMC and Chevy Silverado HD are twins segregated at beginning; they share much of their sheetmetal, the available Duramax diesel, and an Allison transmission. The Duramax cranks out a class-leading 445 horse power and a significant 910 lb-ft of torque. That allows the Sierra 3500HD to tow up to 23,300 pounds, which still tracks the most powerful Ford and Ram memory rivals. However, the Sierra has more civilized road manners. The Sierra HD ratchets up refinement in its top Denali cut, which is clad in stainless- and gentrified with reduced interior. Although it’s not as high-tech as the Ford F-series Super Duty, the slick GMC appears better and works as hard.
The 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD gets slight exterior revisions such as a new Denali grille design and new crew-cab outside colors: Deep Mahogany Metallic, Red Quartz Tintcoat, and White Frost Tricoat. The bottom model now has a typical 7.0-inch IntelliLink touchscreen; a backup camera becomes standard on all models with a cargo container. The tire pressure screen system now includes a tire-fill alert, too.
The Sierra HD received an almost all-new Duramax diesel that was more refined and better. General Motors added a hood-scoop induction system and upgraded the cHhilling and petrol systems, along with numerous other revisions. The drivetrain was increased with more robust components and an Allison six-speed automated transmission with an increased torque capacity. Fresh features also included a standard Teen Driver function for monitoring Junior’s driving a motor vehicle behaviors, an All Terrain X deal with special tires and tires plus blacked-out cut, and two new metallic coloring colors that appear to be wizards created them: Dark Slate Metallic and Pepperdust Metallic.

Those who can afford the Duramax’s approximately $9000 upcharge, depending on body style, will be compensated with a pickup so quick that the crew-cab version can outrun the much smaller Honda Ridgeline. GM kept up to date about 90 percent of the previous Duramax. Engine noises is reduced a great deal that, on the highway at least, people might ignore they’re in a diesel. Torque fans won’t need a reminder that this is the big-dog powertrain, as every prod of the throttle from recovery or at low rates of speed elicits a good drive in your back again.

The 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD / 3500HD gets the most spacious forward seat, and its own cabin is an ergonomic aspiration. However, the Denali trim does not deliver the prime feel we’d expect given its high quality price, and the staff cab’s rear-seat traveler space requires a back seating to the Ford Super Duty’s.
Perhaps keeping out wish that GMC would make the Denali interior more upscale was wishful thinking. It still has a spacious cabin, however the interior is unchanged for 2018.
The Sierra HD is home to one of the most useful cabins available, with an upright dash and easy controls. The interior can be got work-truck simply or as delicate and appealing as the teddy-bear aisle in a Toys and games “R” Us. Our Denali test rig became a welcoming environment, highlighted by a pair of comfortable, 12-way power-adjustable forward buckets. The Denali cut, however, doesn’t live up to its price tag; the materials neither look nor feel as wealthy as you’d expect in a car costing almost $70,000. Those that don’t intend to tow a building can drop the diesel and save $8555 by deciding on the base 6.0-liter gas V-8.
